Packing Supervisor/Trainer

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

Monitor, coordinate, and communicate the strategic objectives of the packing department. Collaborate and communicate with supervisors, team leads, and packing employees to better understand the business and consistently achieve targets. Act as a positive representation of the packing department.

    PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

    Job Duties:

    • All requirements of Pack supervisor, including backfill for supervisor PTO on all 4 shifts.
    • Establish common best practices with all stakeholders that can be used on all shifts given the challenges of varying attendance and disciplinary culture levels.
    • Share, coach, mentor, and track best practices for standard work across all shifts.
    • Train new team members to procedures, drive continuous improvement.
    • Empower both supervisors and leads to own targets and drive improvements and follow up with all team members to exceed targets in a positive work environment.
    • Increase average productivity to meet pack lbs./table target and consistently exceed cutback, stencil, and scrap saw PPMH targets.
    • Communicate with manager about issues and able to put a plan together to rectify issues.
    • Implement 6s and lean procedures to help organize for efficiency and productivity.
    • Measure shift and department performance using KPIs.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • Wolverine leadership experience for more than 3 years
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Epics Knowledge
    • Hands-on aluminum extrusion experience
    • Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
    • Aluminum Association standards
    • Customer specifications

    Training Requirements:

    • Ability to achieve forklift and crane certifications.
    • Ability to work on the production floor with exposure to dust, fumes, odors, loud noise, and varying temperatures.
    • Ability to do work requiring standing with frequent stooping, bending, reaching overhead and sufficient manual dexterity to perform all aspects of the job.
    • At least 3 years’ Wolverine Pack area management experience is a plus.
    • Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.
    • Must be able to safely handle up to 50 pounds using a lifting device.
    • Must adhere to all safety rules in force for the location you are in while performing your job responsibilities. This includes at a customer or supplier location.
    • Must meet requirements for PPE in specific manufacturing areas when you are in those areas including safety shoes and safety glasses.

    Essential Physical Functions:

    • Ability to work on the production floor with exposure to dust, fumes, odors, loud noise, and varying temperatures.
    • Ability to do work requiring standing with frequent stooping, bending, reaching overhead and sufficient manual dexterity to perform all aspects of the job.
    • 1 to 3 years of experience managing and/or implementing safety programs in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
    • Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.
    • Must be able to safely handle up to 50 pounds using a lifting device.
    • Must follow all safety rules in force for the location you are in while performing your job responsibilities. This includes at a customer or supplier location.
    • Must wear applicable PPE for manufacturing areas when you are in those areas including safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
